A Cry for Help
– October is Domestic Violence Awareness month
(Dedicated to women suffering in silence from verbal, emotional, mental, and physical domestic abuse and violence)
How many women are suffering in silence at the hands, words, or actions of a man who doesn’t appreciate or value their true worth?
This is certainly a major problem that should be handled and no longer ignored before one more is ridiculed, criticized, beaten, battered, or at the hands of another is forced to leave this earth
A flag must be raised to the signs that appear before the situation gets out of hand or the abuser snaps and loses control
So just pay close attention to the highlighter shining brightly like a flashlight towards the handwriting that appears on the wall
For a woman going through, there are many hurts and secrets hidden deep inside her heart that are fighting desperately to get out
And sometimes her actions are really just a cry out for help because she feels afraid of what may happen if she speaks out or opens her mouth
Domestic violence and abuse committed behind closed doors is more than just the physical that can be easily detected
The verbal, emotional and mental scars are not so easily seen but are usually just as guarded and protected
Those close to the victim may notice something wrong and to her try to reach out, assist, and lend a helping hand
But don’t give up if she initially resists or continues to protect and defend her man
Pay close attention to what she doesn’t say or how she gives responses to your questions
And until she’s ready for help, just remind her to always look to God for a solution, guidance, answers and direction
Continue to offer up prayers on her behalf that she will soon, before it’s too late, see the light
We know that pressure bursts pipes, and there’s only so much one can take and we definitely know what’s wrong from what’s right
And what about the one who is not afraid to speak out after years of surrendering and crying in her home
But if her scars are not visibly seen like those of the physical, sometimes her cries go unnoticed and she’s left to feel like she’s all alone
She’s not being beaten or physically tortured and her scars are not visibly seen
But don’t just sit back and ignore her cries for help because she too needs and desires to be set free
Why does it take a hand being raised, or one running for their life in fear before something is done or some action takes place?
Since non-physical violence and abuse is usually the precursor to the physical and both are a detriment to our human race
To the abuser and so-called man – you have no right to belittle, degrade or put your hands on another human being
And even if she never speaks out, you will one day have to give an account for you actions toward that beautiful queen
To the family member, trusted friend or counselor that the victim turns to for help
Please take the time to listen to her story because for her to reach out is definitely a big step
Realize that she’s hurt and bruised, even if you can’t see the scars that have been left behind
And just know that right now she’s doing everything she can to remove the past from her mind
And finally to the receiver, the carrier, and victim of the abuse and violence – this devastating crime
It’s time to take action, don’t take this any longer and you’ve heard his phony apologies for the last time
So hold your head high and look to the One who created you and for you only wants the best
You are a Designer’s original my friend, and just know that He hears and sees every one of your desperate cries for help.
